I have MP3s in Ubuntu, want to listen on ZTE L5 mobile. Easy? No. There is no mount as storage device (disabled in Andreoid, tells "works with Windows XP preferrably").
OK. Wonderful world of Linux suggests using either GUI (gvfs) -- shows the device, folders, but any copying fails with soooooo helpful "Error while copy" -- or to use command-line mtp-connect/mtp-folder/mtp-sendfile. Also fails with PTP Layer error 02ff: LIBMTP_Send_File_From_File_Descriptor(): Could not send object. Great.
Exact attempted commands were "mtp-sendfile karlson.mp3 1" and also folder-id 8. Those IDs were printed by mtp-folder: 1 Music, 8 Download.
Long story short. "Much to my great surprise" (c) actual FS just did not have Music and Download. Phone's mtp server just faked them. After manually creating those... everything was fine. Command-line works, GUI works. Beware.
